Call for Proposal

SEGE – Call for Proposals

We are looking for researchers to become part of our SEGE-project in June and July 2018.

SEGE (Holistic Approaches to Urban Development) is a research in cooperation with KfW Development Bank (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) that deals with Secondary Cities in the global south. It aims to understand the special dynamics of development in Secondary Cities around the world and focuses on decentralization, regional governance, civil society, infrastructure, urban planning, problems with corruption and economical potentials of those cities. In the first phase we conducted qualitative field studies with a focus on Ghana and Peru. Within the next months, other cities and countries in the global south should follow.

For this purpose, we are looking for researchers with experience in qualitative research, development policies and especially expert knowledge on urban development in Secondary Cities of a certain country of your choice (our definition of Secondary City is still very broad).

The task is interview stakeholders in your chosen city covering the above-mentioned aspects. Stakeholders should include: regional politicians, activists, planners and architects, city administration and so on. A final report is the second product of this short-term study.

It is mandatory that you are in the country and region of your choice and that it fits into the framework of SEGE. An existing network to different stakeholders is beneficial. There will be a fair salary, an extremely motivated team here at TU Darmstadt and the chance to collaborate in a promising research context.

If interested, please send us an Email until May 13th with a CV, a few words about your interest and your proposal for a satellite study of a city that fits our project.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us (please use both emails stated below). We are looking forward to hearing from you.
