Karten sind keine neutralen Repräsentationen der Realität da sie auf Abstraktionen der Komplexität angewiesen sind. Ihnen sind die Intentionen der Verfasser sowie soziale Verhältnisse eingeschrieben. Basierend auf einer Einführung in die Literatur zu Kartierung als soziale Konstruktion werden im Seminar verschiedene Ansätze der Kartierung vor- gestellt und anhand ausgesuchter Beispiele unter- sucht. Darauf aufbauend werden alternative Dar- stellungsformen für die Gestaltung von Trans- formationsprozessen entwickelt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Kartierung post-industrieller Stadt- entwicklungsprozesse: Was kommt nach der Produktion? Wie können Transformationsprozesse dargestellt werden? Welche Effekte werden durch die Auslassungen der Kartierungen produziert? Dieses Seminar wird begleitend zum Entwurf Johannes- Görderitz-Preis 2017 angeboten. Es kann in Kombination mit dem Entwurf oder separat belegt werden. Eine Exkursion ist vorgesehen.
Maps are not neutral representations of reality because they rely upon abstractions of complexity. The intentions of their authors and social relations are inscribed in them. Based on an introduction in the literature on maps as social construction different approaches to mapping are presented in the seminar and selected examples of mapping are analyzed. Building on this, alternative forms of representing the design of transformation processes are developed. The focus is on mapping post-industrial urban development processes: What happens after production? How can transformation processes be represented? Which effects are produced through omissions and abstractions of maps? This seminar accompanies the urban design project Johannes-Göderitz-Preis 2017. It can be selected in combination with the design project or separately. An excursion is planned.
